The Art of..

At Googol, we have always been blessed with beautiful, inspiring and interesting contemorary art. Since the foundation of YOU we have an exhibition in our office, more or less permanent. Please feel free to visit us and talk about the art we have choosen at each time for our offices.

Now, for our website we have chosen a series of works by the very talented Mr. Hans Isaksson, please visit Roger Björkholmen Gallery for more works and information.

Again, as with our name, we like the tremendous work, talent and skills put into this object, yet only visualizing very common or even trivial objects. It is not until the viewer comes close to the work that the material used, bronze, and the fantastic paint-job becomes clear.

We draw reference to the fun way of picking fruit introduced by Baloo, the bear in Rudyard Kiplings novel dramatized by Disney. Now is it really that easy? Or does it take skills that only few are blessed with? We ask ourselves this on a daily basis when working.

Fruit, one of natures many wonders. Feeds many and fills a very important role in the eco-system. Filled with vitamins and taste and so ingeniously designed. When treasures are found, they should be harvested before they are over-riped. They can and should not be stored and spoiled. We like to pick the low-hanging fruits.

Hans Isaksson remains a good friend, admired artist and valued advisor.
Hans Isaksson´s production is based on a multitude of methods, his utmost interest being sculpture. The common denominator for his work is the strong conceptual idea that always makes the viewer to question what actually is the nature of the presented object. Or one can mention his fondness for creating illusions as for example in his new work featuring fruit sculptures in real scale. Because of the skilled handcraft these objects look extremely real, but when one intends to lift up one of his banana peels from the floor it becomes obvious from the weight of the sculpture mould in lead that one was lured. What you see and what you make of it is a matter of perspective.

His piece titled “Still # 6” presents a pile of exotic fruit stacked straight as a line on top of each other up till the height of a man. This colorfully festive sculpture seems again unbelievably real even at a closer inspection. Despite of the mysterious elegance of the piece, it cannot totally escape the association to everyday, to fruit that is to be eaten and consumed. Hans Isaksson works with a minimalistic vocabular, but undermines his work with existentialistic meanings. The objects often have a changing character and they carry a meaning of perishability.
