Survey: Innovation and Growth in companies listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange (2006)

The study shows that companies with a clear strategy for the development of new business opportunities have experienced a significantly better revenue growth than other companies. Over the last three years these companies have had a compound annual growth rate (cagr) of 7.8% in comparison to other companies that have had a cagr of 0.8%.

Similar patterns can be identified when looking at the existence of an effective innovation process. Companies with an effective innovation process have had a cagr of 6.6% in comparison to 3.4% in other companies.

  • One half of the a-list companies and over one third of the o-list companies regard organic growth as more important today than a year ago.

  • Close to one fifth of the companies lack a clear strategy for the development of new business opportunities.

  • Over half of the companies want to increase the return on investment in innovation, growth and venturing projects.
